Medicine Woman

This image was created strictly by the intaglio process; etching and aquatint were used. Two zinc plates were used so that I could get more color possibilites out of one 'pass' through the pressbed. This is considered student work (while I was studying at University of New Mexico). The acid bath required to etch a zinc plate is very toxic, so this is not something I would do in my studio here at home. Instead, I use copper plates as the acid required for copper is not as dangerous to use.

La Laments III

Another photogravure; instead of using a photopolymer plate, a thin film of photosensitve mylar is adhered to a copper plate (this product is called ImagOn). Two plates were used for this; one is of the clouds and the other is the shadow of a yucca plant). The wonderful thing about doing photogravure is that I can choose to use my photographic images or drawings or just about anything to create my matrix. So many possibilites...

This Old Car

A photogravure of an old car that used to be in front of the Albuquerque Museum. When they 'remodeled' the museum a few years back, the old car disappeared to who knows where. Printed on Arches paper. A photopolymer plate was used to create this image.
