Oaxaca Street Children Shrine Project

The Oaxaca Street Children Grassroots
3rd Annual Shrine auction

"Art and artists have the ability within to influence and change the course of history. That level of empowerment paired with the notion of the 'butterfly effect' - that the flap of a butterfly's wings can have far reaching effects is a powerful combination. We can never be certain of what these effects are, but rest assured, they will be positive and they will be profound. Often, what seems to be a small gesture carries far more weight than broad strokes."

For the third consecutive year, I am participating in this on line charity project. How does this charity project work? A group of artists across the country create shrines that get auctioned off on line and ALL, yes ALL of the proceeds raised go directly to the Oaxaca Street Children Grassroots: a non -profit dedicated to ending poverty by providing the street children of Oaxaca with an education and often, food, clothing, and books. There are 28 artists participating in this project. Visit the site: The Gallery of Hope created specifically for this auction. Viewing begins on June 1st. The auction goes live on June 5th, 12 p.m. PST and will close on June 12th, 6 p.m. PST.

To view the shrine that I created, see the previous post on this blog and find out what's in the box and the significance of the images used on the shrine.

Please help us to spread the word about this on line auction to people that you know. You can share it on your Face Book page. Tweet about it. Send the link via email. Tell everyone you know. All of us, and most especially, the children of Oaxaca are very grateful for your help in spreading the word. Even more so, we are very grateful to those who bid on items and win them!

"I am beginning to think

you are putting a roof of protection over the center with the shrines.

We have been having more positive things happen

as far as the center in Oaxaca then we have in a long time.

Thanks!"
